Our Beginning

Dogs have always been an important part of Jordan and Jacob’s lives. With strong practical and technical skills, they always wanted to create products that benefited pet parents and their canine companions.

This dream has been manifested through Glowhound.

When they were kids, they used to shave their dog and thought—there's got to be a better use for all that fur! So why not turn it into a custom, insulated jacket?

2018

We grew up and decided to make it happen—we gathered feedback, built prototypes, tested nonstop… then hit a wall when production costs skyrocketed.

2024

The idea took a turn when our mom had a close call on a nighttime dog walk. After a near miss with a car, we knew safety had to come first—so we ditched the jacket idea and started prototyping light-up hands-free belts.

2025

Now, we’re focused on expanding our lineup with more products designed to keep you and your dogs safe—listening to our customers and creating the solutions they’re asking for. Stay tuned for what’s next!

Founded by two brothers in 2018, Jordan and Jacob, GlowHound emerged from a need to keep our loved ones safe. One fall evening in 2018, after a long day of work, our mother, a busy real estate agent, took our late dog Scout for her usual walk. This routine was her only chance to unwind after a hectic day. However, that evening, as she walked through the dimly lit streets of a Toronto suburb, a car nearly struck her. The driver, deeply apologetic, admitted he hadn’t seen her in the darkness.
When our mother shared her frightening experience, we knew we had to do something to ensure her safety during her cherished evening walks. We dove into researching existing products, aiming to find something that could address all her concerns.
Our mother, like many multitasking moms, loved her evening walks with Scout. While searching, we discovered hands-free dog leashes that offered the convenience of having both hands free, but nothing addressed her primary concern—feeling safe at night. Realizing this gap in the market, we decided to create the perfect solution ourselves.
We started from scratch, progressing from rough sketches to a functional prototype. When we finally presented our mom with the finished product, she was thrilled. It not only made her feel secure during her nighttime walks but also allowed her the convenience of hands-free strolling, so she could take phone calls or enjoy a cup of tea. Unexpectedly, people began asking where they could get a hands-free belt and leash like hers.
Thus, GlowHound was born. Recognizing the demand for our innovative product, we decided to make it available to others facing similar challenges. We collaborated with various suppliers to find the right partner who could produce our design at scale. After a year of sampling, testing, and overcoming countless obstacles, we developed a production-ready product that could cater to the needs of all those who, like our mother, sought safety and convenience in their evening walks.

Meet The Founders & The Pack

"We started GlowHound with the belief that if you feel safer walking at night , you and your dog will enjoy the benefits of more walks."

Dogs have been a huge part of our lives since day one. Growing up, we always had an entrepreneurial mindset, so it only made sense to build a business around something we love and know so well—dogs.

Shadow (2020 - Present)

Shadow joined our family a year after we unexpectedly lost Scout. She’s supposedly a Goldendoodle, but we’re not entirely sure! She’s the smartest of the three dogs we’ve had—though a bit on the timid side.

Scout (2012-2019)

Scout was the dog we grew up with, by our side through our most formative years. He was the most playful and kind-hearted pup, always knowing when we needed a little extra love or a reason to smile.

Buster (1990-2001)

Buster was our family’s first dog—even before we were born. A purebred Cocker Spaniel, he looked after Jacob as a baby and passed away just a few months before Jordan was born.
